Thank you to everyone involved with this year’s fabulous timetable of One Special Day activities and studio events.

One Big Game

24 hours, 11 matches and 82 goals! Thank you to each and every person involved in making #OneBigGame so very special this year. It’s raised over £25k and we couldn’t be more proud of everyone involved in the organisation and participation. What an amazing event at St George’s Park!

One Special Album

Rumour has it that Dolly Parton wrote I Will Aways Love You and Jolene on the same day. Josie Austen of Hutch Games is pushing the envelope on that, and will be writing a whole ALBUM in a day!

One Sharp Dressed Man

What fancy dress costume would you choose for your boss to wear? That’s the auction prize that SkillSearch CEO Richard Fisher is dreading again this year, and is just one of several great fundraising activities that their team will be relishing in support of One Special Day. They’ll also be enjoying a full English breakfast, a quiz/bingo and a cake sale on Friday 4 October.

Green Credentials

nDreams are stepping up to the tee again this year with their team in Hampshire taking on an office mini-golf hole-in-one challenge, with prizes on offer for the top scorer. They’ll also be running an auction of talents plus a bingo bonanza session for their remote teams – with a gaming theme of course!

One Special Newcastle Night

A properly ace night of tournaments, raffles arcade action at the Four Quarters Arcade Bar in Newcastle on Friday 4 October from 6pm, organised by Ambassadors Stevie Ward and Steven Hey. Thanks to the fantastic folk at Four Quarters, with prizes donated by Ubisoft, Sumo Digital Ltd, and Hasbro among others, plus 10% off drinks.

One Special Golf Day

The friendly folk at SEGS (Special Effect Golf Society) are holding a golf day at Shirley Golf Club in the Midlands on Friday 4 October. Join them for breakfast rolls and a round on a great course, followed by a meal and prizes. Membership is open to all.

Lucid limber up for action

The wonderful team at Lucid are getting active this year to raise funds and awareness with a trio of challenges, They’ve submitted a top team for the 24-hour One Big Game football event on 26 September, Jen Williams and Jason Bowers did one big run in the 13 Valleys Ultra Lake District (77km in total!) and GM and SpecialEffect Ambassador Brian Woodhouse will be one of the team masterminding the action at the SEGS golf day.

Spin cycle

Gotta love a smoothie bike! The awesome team at Rocksteady certainly do, and they’ll be pedalling like crazy during One Special Day week to generate fabulous drinks and much-appreciated funds during the week of One Special Day. They’ll also be holding a Game Library Sale where their team can stock up on all the games they’ve been meaning to play.

Several Special Streams

A big thank you to Elaine Dowman and staff across Barclays, who’ve been taking on a 100km virtual running/walking challenge over the last few weeks.

One to look forward to. Back for its third consecutive year, the organisers will be inviting you to enjoy an even bigger and better event with over 20 games industry teams enjoying this festive cracker. Pencil in a provisional date of 5 December and watch this space!

One Special Day Develop party

The One Special Day fundraising took off with a £10k boost back in July with the 12th end of conference party at Develop in Brighton. Thank you not only to our Ambassador Simon Barratt, event sponsors Cooperative Innovations Ltd and Centroid Motion Capture, but also to the generous donors of raffle prizes – and of course everyone who enjoyed a memorable evening!

And that’s not all…

We’re truly grateful for all the events and fundraising that are supporting One Special Day this year, including initiatives by EA, Hundred Star Games and Paysafe. Everything raised will be put to the best possible use in bringing fun, inclusion and a better quality of life for people with physical disabilities.
