Judges advice as the OSG clock ticks down

There’s still time to submit your One Special Game competition entries before they’re judged by our fantastic panel of creative industry professionals and illustrators. The deadline for entries is 11.59pm BST on 1 October, so get creating now to be in with a chance of winning some mouth-watering prizes, including a brand new OLED Switch.

We asked our judges for advice about creating your dream poster inspired by this years classic titles The Sims, Fall Guys and Broken Sword:

“I’m looking for a design that captures the spirit of the game and surprises me with something new every time I look at it,” said Nico Vliek, the winner of last years’ grand prize. Mat Roff agrees, adding “I like artwork that you can revisit time and time again and find something new that you didn’t find before.”

Other judges emphasise personal creativity. “Create what feels most natural to you,” says David Dino. “If one of the games is close to your heart, inject some of your experiences into your work.” It’s sound advice that’s echoed by Anna Hollinrake: “Create an image that resonates with you personally – and if you’re having fun making it then that will shine through.”

Wendy Fritscher encourages you not to be intimidated by the competition. “Don’t look at what others are doing or let yourself think that you’re not talented enough to participate,” she says. Lee Burns agrees: “Art is subjective and the value of work is different to everyone.”

And if you’re really struggling for inspiration? “Have fun with your work!” Says Jake Parrott. “Just go for it and get something down!”

Thanks again to our wonderful judges for giving their time and talents, and good luck with your last-minute entries! You can follow the action at https://twitter.com/OneSpecialGame1
